This really is a first for LED lightbulbs - unlike all our other LED lamps these are constructed using 24 surface mounted diodes - in simple terms this means it looks like a standard lightbulb with an opaque front and gives a off a light approx equivalent to a 35w halogen but with a very wide (80degree) beam spread. This makes it perfect for general purpose lighting such as in a kitchen or lounge however it's not so good if you want to concentrate light into a particular space.The colour temperature is amber white which provides a comfortable effect. As with all LED's these require NO warm up time and can be used to directly replace existing Halogen lamps but as they consume just 2.8w power they will save a fortune in the long run. Choosing the right LED is more difficult than it seems but here we think we've found a real winner as it's suitable for general lighting because of it's extra wide 80 degree beam angle which offers even light over a wide area.I put 4 into my kitchen and nobody noticed which I consider to be a good thing as in the past the moment I changed the 35w halogen lamps for LED's then the kids would pipe up with some comment or other!Excellent light quality and distribution make them a real find - although the upfront cost might look a bit daunting when you look at the full life costs then the savings are immense - remember they use around 3 watts of power instead of 35w!Constructed using 24 SMD (that's surface mounted diodes in case you wonder) and an opaque lens, these lamps simply look like normal lightbulbs - they come on afull brightness immediately and generate little heat.
