Integrated LED Downlighters

If you’re considering upgrading your lighting then you can of course install new downlighter and add LED lamps however there might be a better solution – an integrated LED Downlighter. Here are 5 simple reasons why you might want to consider these :

1 :- Power – a retrofit LED lamp will always be limited in its power output because it can only have a relatively small heat sink (otherwise it won’t fit anything!) – the maximum is likely to be around 8w and even this will give a light output no greater than a 50w halogen.

With an integrated solution the heatsink can be much larger allowing the use of higher power LED’s – for example our 15w Integra unit will give a light output significantly in excess of a 50w GU10 halogen lamp so there will be no complaints about low light levels!

2 :- Reliability – because the heat sink is so much larger then the LED can run at a lower temperature thereby extending it’s life and increasing it’s performance (LED’s generally provide more light at lower temperatures). As the power supply is generally separate then it’s reliability is likely to be much better than that of a tiny power supply shoehorned into a GU10 lamp base.

3 :- Beam Spread – the greater power and larger physical size of an integrated unit means that the beam can be spread wider meaning little or no “hot spotting” – just a nice even light spread across the room.

4 : – Lower Number of Fittings – the higher power of these integrated fittings means you may well need to use fewer than if you choose the standard downlighter/lamp route so offsetting the higher purchase cost.

5 :- Reduced Glare – the Integra unit has an anti glare lens whilst the QUAD50 has a slightly recessed lens which again reduces glare meaning greater comfort.

So there we are – one the face of it the extra cost might look difficult to justify but once you have seen these units in operation then you will soon understand that they are worth the extra investment.
